New Year’s Eve Tradition?

Greetings on this last day of December in the Year 2020. I was going to NOT reflect on this past year because – well, you know, it was a tough one. But, I did a year end wrap up last year and in a year where all traditions have basically been thrown out the window, I decided that this may be a good one to keep.

So, with out further ado, this is 2020 – from the Cohnpound!

January – Normalcy. 2020 came in as normal as normal could be. Our 8 “girls” were producing lots of eggs, we were setting goals for the year and we had lots of blessings to count. I was gearing up for a very busy travel season for work, or at least I though I was…

In February, the Capital Region Heart Ball was one of the last in-person events that I worked. Who would have thought that we would be converting over 60 spring events into digital experiences – and I was in for a whole new skill – virtual event production!

March. The world changed quickly. During one of the last shopping trips with hubs, I captured this photo. I can remember this day so clearly. We were texting with family about the importance of washing hands and keeping our hands away from our faces! Little by little, then all at once, we were in lock down.

Silk pajamas for #22! Happy Birthday to Ian. As every other birthday and holiday of 2020 we had a quiet, but fun day.  April was a month of reconnecting with the outside, taking walks and enjoying each other’s company.

Busy learning new skills for work and trying to keep positive. May feels like a blur to me now. I know it wasn’t then. If it weren’t for the continued numbness on the tip of my thumb, I probably would have forgotten all about this little mishap. Perhaps there was already a crack in the wine glass as I was cleaning it in the sink, perhaps due to stress I was squeezing it just a little too tight. Either way, a trip to the urgent care – compliments of my son – and a few stitches later, I was fine. Always something!

Hub’s bday and Father’s Day looked a little different, but at least Mackenzie made it home and we were all happy. June marked the 1st time out to a restaurant since – well, you know.

We started to get a little creative with our time in July. In addition to working, gardening and trying to stay active and positive, we had a little fun with an at home Paint and Sip and some fun Zoom time with friends and family.

Gardens and goofiness. August was a time for soaking up as much of the warm weather as possible. We had a short visit to Boston to see Mackenzie for her 27th (YIKES) birthday and drove back home on our 29 anniversary.

Pepper turned 1 in September. I made the dogs Pup-Cakes to celebrate. We sure do love her.

October. Enough said.

Outside fires became a thing in November. We’re not sure why it took us so long to make this a weekend tradition but we are loving being outside as much as possible, even as the temperature falls.

And finally, to wrap up this crazy, stressful, blessed year – December was both happy and sad. We said goodbye to our 8 year old bearded dragon, Taco. We had a sweet service down by the pond. We were (and I still remain) under quarantine after Harry tested positive for COVID and celebrated Christmas by ourselves. He’s fully recovered and I’m looking forward to breaking free in 2 days. (Momma needs her roots done ASAP!)

Well that was a fun recap – if not for you, it was for me! I hope that you all, no matter what your situation right now, are able to find some peace, love and blessings looking back and looking forward. We are hopeful for a wonderful 2021. Happy New Year to you and yours.

Love,
The Cohns
