It all starts with a solid foundation!

August 9 – Our view from the pond – Clearing has begun!

Our current situation:

After deciding to downsize and build our dream home in the country, our family including me and hubby, our 19 year old son, our 23 year old daughter (for a few months before she moved to the Cape for the summer and soon to be returning to pursue a “big girl job”), our 85 pound golden retriever, 2 cats and a bearded dragon, have been living in an apartment for a little over 6 months. Early in the spring we bought 6 acres of land with a pond and decided to build a custom a modular home through a local contractor. We’ve actually been working with them for over a year while we were selling our home. Head over to our “ABOUT” page to read more about who we are and where we’re going!

August 17 – Footings for the foundation are in!

It’s been slower than we thought.

When we began this process in June of 2016, we were told that if our house sold quickly (which we were sure it would) we could potentially be in our new home by the holidays…meaning December of last year (2016). Well, as you can tell, that did not happen. Feel free to go back to the archives to read more about our journey this past year. I’ve summed it up the last year in THIS POST.

August 24 – We have a foundation!

But things are moving along.

At first I was going to rant about a disappointing message that came through this week…After sending an email to our contractor confirming our delivery and set date (which we were told would be the 23rd and 24th of this week), we received a response back that it is yet again delayed (original date was supposed to be August 15) and the house will be coming on the 29th being set on the 30th.

I was looking back at photos over the past couple of weeks and realized how much progress has been made, so we really can’t complain!

Another week is not that big of a deal. The only bummer is Hubby and I will be out of town, on a mini holiday for our 26 wedding anniversary – (more to come on that) so we won’t be able to be there. Watching a crane set your home in a matter of hours is one of the most exciting days of a build. Thank you for joining us on this rollercoaster ride in pursuit of our dreams!

Pulling out of the driveway – it’s so hard to say goodbye!
