A quick check in!

What’s Happening???

Hi, I’m going to post a quick check in since it’s been a few weeks. Here are all the fun things happening in our neck of the woods!

Our solar panels are up and running!

We are a little obsessed with checking out how much we are producing! (there’s an app for that!) We’re not in the black yet, but hey, winter in the northeast! One of the first things to check off the list!

We (Me and Mackenzie) enjoyed a great night out with the girls

painting and sipping and sipping and sipping during our second annual paint and sip (and sip and sip) Christmas Present outing! We love our master creations, but more than that we love giggling with eachother.

We had a fabulous weekend with a bunch of Mackenzie’s A Capella friends

joining us here in the woods for good food, singing and lots of laughs. They were gracious guests and Harry and I just loved listening to them do what they love the most. Here’s a quick sampling of the fun!

We adopted a puppy.

This was one of the first things we had on our checklist once we were settled. We loved having two dogs so when we lost our sweet Oreo almost two years ago (see her story here) we knew it wouldn’t be too long before we got Elvis a companion.  Willow, our new little one, was adopted the last weekend of January and we had a scary start. Turns out, in my opinion, she was taken from her momma a little too early and didn’t know how to eat or drink. There were a few days of back and forth to the vet to get hydration, a lot of syringe feeding and a lot of meds to be given.  It really was like caring for an infant (and still is). But thanks to the great care of her family (special shout out to Mackenzie for taking care of her while I was away on a business trip) and a great role model, Elvis our 10 year old Golden, showing her how to eat, drink and yes, beg….she is thriving! We all adore her.

We had a nice Friend’s weekend!

When we moved a good 45 minutes away from our friends and family we wanted our home to be a destination so people would have someplace to look forward to visiting. I think we accomplished that this past weekend. We were missing a few, but I know there will be many more weekends to come!

We celebrated my parent’s 52nd Wedding anniversary

in true “Dad” fashion…he cooked for us! He made a delicious Chicken Cacciatore and brought it to our house! It was so yummy. Mom and Dad both talked about all the ways they celebrated their anniversary over the years and this year was surely unique. 🙂 Thanks, Mom and Dad! It felt like my special day and I so appreciated sharing February 5th with them.

We ordered chicks!

10 of them! This was another thing we had on our list of “must do’s” this year! (I know, the exclamation points are driving me crazy as well.) We will be attending a clinic in March to learn all about how to take care of them. Harry will be building a coup and we will be enjoying fresh eggs by…err…September? More to come!

And finally (but certainly not all), a quick update to the workout program I’ve been following

on Beachbody On Demand. Today marked day 23 today (yep, been working out faithfully 6 days a week) and feel great. As posted, a few weeks ago, I needed a little structure.  I have been doing Autumn Calabrese’s 80 Day Obsession program. Please note, I am not affiliated with Beachbody, but I do love their workouts. I am feeling stronger, fitter and have a bit more energy. My nutrition could use some tweaking (but let’s face it at 46…almost 47….at a healthy weight and no major health concerns, I’m not trying to get a bikini body, I’m going to enjoy my cheese and wine.)  I love this program and am committed to completing the 80 days!

So there it is, the last 3 weeks summed up in about 700 words. Can’t wait to live and share the next few weeks!

Cheers and love,
The Cohns
